It doesn’t matter whether you are using Android, iOS or PC, chatting and typing is the most common thing used in daily life. Especially on the mobile phone, because you chat with friends, clients, etc. Even if you learn to code on your mobile phone, the keyboard is used a lot. Every company has created their own keyboard, whether it’s PC, Android or iOS. Among them, I prefer Gboard Keyboard made by Google. It has a lot of features and among them there are 3 features that make Gboard my favorite. So, in this article, you will learn how to use Gboard to its full potential by adding the following three features.

Google is a giant technology company and its products are truly amazing, and among them Gboard keyboard is one of them. This keyboard has multiple features and among them, I really like the 3 features below which can be really useful in day to day.

1. Type with your voice on your blog or search the web

I know you have heard of Google Assistant, Siri or other voice assistant apps, you may have searched with them on the web. Nowadays, almost every phone has a Voice Assistant app, however, there are still older phones that don’t have the Voice Assistant app inside. Moreover, even though it has Voice Assistant function in Android phone, you still cannot use it to type in your blog (mobile blogging).

In fact, many people these days are doing mobile blogging rather than desktop blogging. If your Android phone doesn’t have a voice assistant, you can use Gboard to search the web using your voice. You can see how to see the voice option on the screenshot below as I type in the medium.

2. Copy screenshot to Gboard clipboard

Taking a screenshot on any Android phone is easy, it’s not difficult, but copying a screenshot to the clipboard is another matter. However, the Gboard keyboard has the ability to copy a screenshot directly to the clipboard and send it for quick typing during a chat. You need to enable it from settings.

To enable screenshot to clipboard, follow the steps below.

  1. Click on settings.
  2. Choose Clipboard.
  3. Tap Save recent screenshots to clipboard.
  4. Then allow the GBoard to access the media file by tapping Allow.

3. Use Google Translate as you type

Apparently, if you’re chatting with a customer whose language you don’t understand, it’s a good feature to use it while you type. I have noticed this many times on the facebook page i run, indians are typing in hindi and i can’t understand so i basically use this option.

To enable the Translate as you type option, click on three dots (known as the plus option), then press Translate. In the Next panel, tap OK, where Gboard explains that the text you type in the translation box will be sent to Google for translation.

The language can be detected but you need to choose the language to translate it.

Emojis, customization, voice search, dictionary, theme layouts, text correction, swipe typing, set up for one-handed user and many other features are available in this keyboard. And by adding blog type, translation, and screenshot clipboard, I hope you’ll use Gboard to its full potential.
