Looking for a cheap Android TV media box? And, if you turn to the Nokia Streaming Box 8000, which thanks to this promotion is available for 60 euros at Boulanger, instead of 100 euros at launch.

With the rise of connected TVs, the market for multimedia boxes has slowed down a bit in recent years, but it is making a strong comeback with well-finished products and especially with features that are not found on our smart screens. Nokia has for example engulfed itself in the field with its Streaming Box 8000, an excellent ally for transforming your 4K TV or your PC monitor into a connected TV at a lower cost. That’s good, since it is possible to get one at Boulanger on sale during the sales for 40 euros less compared to the usual price.

What is the Nokia Streaming Box 8000?

  • A compact and discreet box
  • 4K, HDR10, Google Assistant and Chromecast ready
  • A smooth experience on Android TV

Launched at a price of 99 euros, but now displayed at a price of 59.99 euros, the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 is now offered on sale at 59 euros at Boulanger during the sales.

An old-fashioned, but effective design, running on Android TV

In terms of design, the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 is not very original. We end up with a black brick that recalls the old models from Xiaomi or that we often find at Chinese retailers. However, this square has very compact dimensions: 11.2 x 11.2 x 2.4 cm and only the brand logo reminds us that it is Nokia which is at its origin. We nevertheless find a fairly complete connection with an Ethernet port, an HDMI port, an AV OUT port, an optical port, a USB-C port, and, on the side, a USB-A 3.0 port. On the wireless side, it’s classic with compatibility with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 to connect various compatible devices

The strong point of the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 concerns above all its interface based on Android TV. Google’s TV OS is up to date in its latest version and offers everything a similar box can offer, namely access to the Play Store to download applications, a Chromecast function to stream content from a smartphone, a tablet or your PC’s ChromeOS browser, and even compatibility with Google Assistant to perform voice controls from the remote control. We are clearly not at the level of an Nvida Shield in terms of fluidity and use, but it does the job perfectly.

Good enough for most uses

The Streaming Box 8000 is not a monster of power, but its Amlogic S905X3 chip coupled with 2 GB of DDR3 RAM has enough to run some more advanced applications in addition to managing high definition video streaming up to 4K with HDR10 as a bonus. However, we regret the absence of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for sound.
